Contact seller5-star sellerSoft cover. Condition: Fine. Fine unread condition color illustrated softcover wraps. Includes Preliminary Page List of Books by Blue Mountain Arts Publisher; and Introduction by Douglas Pagels. Illustrated with decorative first letters, drawings and designs created by Blue Mountain Arts based on motifs from paintings by Vincent… Van Gogh. Selected and arranged by Susan Polis Schutz and Nancy Hoffman. " ' . Such a book teaches us that there is more in love than people generally suppose." - Vincent Van Gogh. This insight into one of mankind's favorite artists traces the magic and melancholy of Vincent Van Gogh. Out of Vincent's letters to his brother Theo, as collected by Irving Stone, we have selected an exciting and sensitive series of quotations. The quotations in My Life & Love Are One revolve around three themes -- love, art and turmoil. Centered around emotion and creation, Vincent's writing and philosophy is as expressive as his art. Whether it's soft and swirling, or rash and profound, the transformation of his thoughts into words colors empty pages with the brightest and darkest moments of his life. The extremes that glared so brightly in Vincent's life started with his nature and were kindled by his genius. He continued to paint and to maintain an intense personal relationship with Theo through his letters, whether he was sinking to the depths of depression or elated over the vision of a star in the sky. Just as Vincent Van Gogh's love lives on in his painting, the emotion of his life lives on in his writings. In Vincent's own words, "None of us will ever forget that view." - from the Introduction by Douglas Pagels. Schutz, Stephen (designer) (illustrator).

Contact seller5-star sellerEphemeral 1974 trend report on Parisian knitwear for American designers and showrooms, issued by the International Wool Fashion Office in Paris and The Wool Bureau in New York. Editor Skippy Stone declares: "Fall 1974. . . Total from top to toe. Paris is everything that is at once avant, romantic, feminine, and grand . . . blend…ing the classic and peasant into a new season of big new clothes." Top runway models of the day, among them Jerry Hall, pose in voluminous layered knits designed by the likes of Kenzo, Issey Miyake, Sonia Rykiel, and Karl Lagerfeld for Chloë. The International Wool Secretariat (IWS), the entity behind the IWFO and The Wool Bureau, was the natural fiber mills' response to DuPont's introduction of nylon in the 1930s, a major disruptor in the fashion industry. The IWS shaped global fashion trends for decades, through forecasting reports like this one and the International Woolmark Prize, which launched the careers of young designers Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld. In 1997, the IWS would rebrand as The Woolmark Company, keeping their iconic logo, the stylized skein of yarn sprinkled throughout this report. Text in English and French. An uncommon survival. Side-stapled volume, measuring 12 x 9 inches: 80. Original photographic wrappers, black-and-white photographs throughout text. Light foxing and edgewear; evidence of label removal to upper wrapper.
