Pages are heavily tanned and foxed throughout. Considerable cracking to hinges and guttering Binding is loose. Boards have been heavily rub worn with heavy shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are bumped and a heavily frayed and spine ends are crushed, with some small splits and chips. Moderate splitting to spine joints. Moderate tanning to spine and edges. Boards are notably bowed. Book has a prominent forward lean. Moderate water marks to boards and spine.

This copy was presented by the author to the Mayor and Corporation of Bridgwater. Ffep is torn and creased. Rfep is creased. Frontis and other plates taken from photographs. Bound in the original brown cloth, but the binding is tatty with both boards detached and the spine missing. There is staining to the lower corner of the first 20 pages, and the paper mounts have some creasing (cause by shrinkage of the glue used to attach the plates). The text block is tightly bound, however, and this is suitable as a reading, working or binding copy. The book is made up of three parts (West Somerset, Tone Valley, Taunton), all with separate pagination.

Cloth well soiled with damp staining to the fore-edges of both boards, bumping to corners with minor loss of cloth, rubbing to extremes with minimal loss, contents lightly age browned.
