Unbound proof copy and various material relating to the publication of the book contained in a plastic file cover. Galley proofs mostly with corrections, two dated 17.12.80., and two dated 9.1.81. with a photocopy of the introduction with corrections. Two A4 typed copies of the text 5pp., recto only with corrections and one A4 typed copy of an earlier rough version of the introduction 2pp., recto only. Small mock up of first eight pages with handwritten notes as to what will appear on each page. Initials of Joan Stevens on some of the contents and some of the corrections in her hand. A previously unpublished essay by Jefferies on streamside observations and a poacher taking a pike. The Daedalus Press was based at Stoke Ferry, Norfolk. Joan Stevens the feminist bookseller and expert on John Cowper Powys and Edward Thomas died in 2015. Richard Jefferies (1848 Ğ 1887) was a major writer about rural life and nature. George Miller was Jefferies' biographer and with Hugoe Matthews edited an authoritative bibliographical study. Very good.
