Hardcover. Condition: Good. J.E. Carson (illustrator). 1st Edition. Foreword by Right Rev. J. H. Bernard, Bishp of Ossory. This is a first-hand description of the University of Dublin Mission in Chota Nagpur in the Province of Behar, India which started in 1892. Beautifully illustrated with paintings in colour and black and white sketches. The comparisons between the Indian and the Irish peasant (RC) cultures are highlighted by the Dublin-born committed member of the Church of Ireland. The spine has been damaged and a portion of the front board cover is missing, not affecting the painting. The binding is tight and this a clean, bright copy of a rare item.
