(illustrator). First Edition, First Printing. Octavo, 237pp, [3]. Brown cloth, title stamped in brown print. No additional printings noted. Intermittent foxing to leaf ends, and illustrated plates. This copy appears unread. In the publisher's dust jacket, $6.95 on the front flap, bright illustrations, trace of shelf wear. Inscribed on the front endpapers to "Sharon," presumably a sideline reporter for the Chicago Cubs: "To Sharon / My sincere greetings to a very lovely personality - Jesse Owens." Additionally signed by the author: "To Sharon / 'Greeting' / Ernie Banks / Chi-Cubs / 1971." A unique signed copy between two Chicago sports legends.

First edition, first printing. Inscribed presentation copy. Original black cloth with white lettering to the spine, in the dustwrapper designed by Tony Russell. A very near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents clean throughout. Minor bumping to the spine tips. In the near fine dustwrapper, showing a little rubbing and minor crumpling to the upper spine and a light diagonal crease to the upper corner of the front panel. There are a few tiny light marks visible to the spine where laminate and paper have separated a little. Not price-clipped ($5.95 to the front flap). A scarce signed copy of the great athlete's memoir. Inscribed by the author in black ink to the front free endpaper, "To Joe - / My Best to you / always -/ May god bless / Jesse Owens / 36 Olympics". Owens famously won four gold medals at the 1936 Olympic Games held in Berlin. 'Blackthink' is a memoir as well as a personal meditation upon the racial struggles of twentieth century America.
