Ink inscription to the front paste down. Jimmy Wilde (1892-1969) was a Welsh professional boxer who competed from 1911 to 1923, who is often regarded as the greatest British fighter of all time. He was the first official world flyweight champion. This is his guide to the art of boxing, with a preface by Mr. 'Ted' Lewis, who was his manager for all of his great contests. This volume forms a part of Foulsham's Sports Library. Illustrated with fourteen illustrations of various stances. A page of publisher's advertisements to the rear. Undated, dated through copies held at the British Library. In the publisher's original paper wraps. Externally smart, though darkened and a little creased to the spine. Marks to the front of the wraps. Small tear to the head of the front joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good. book.

[Pop Concert Programmes] ORIGINAL PROGRAMMES AND TICKETS. Twelve individual programmes of varying sizes (27 x 21cm to 21 x 13cm). Programmes all stapled with colour paper covers. One programme signed by each member of the Four Pennies in blue ink. Two programmes including original tickets. Most feature light handling, with some heavier rubbing to two or three, and ink notes to one or two. Very good overall.

Hardcover. Condition: Very good plus. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Rare autobiography of one of the greatest flyweight boxers of all time. Very good plus with one corner bumped, book plate on front pastedown, and a touch of creasing to top corner of first 50 pages, otherwise clean and bright inside and out. In a very good dust jacket (price intact) with wear at the spine ends and corners, a bit of fading to spine, and some soiling to rear panel. Wilde was a Welsh professional boxer who competed from 1911 to 1923. Often regarded as the greatest British fighter of all time, he was the first official world flyweight champion and was rated by American boxing writer Nat Fleischer as well as many other professionals as "the Greatest Flyweight Boxer Ever." Wilde earned various nicknames such as "The Mighty Atom," "Ghost with the Hammer in His Hand" and "The Tylorstown Terror" due to his bludgeoning punching power, and he would often take on boxers in higher weight divisions and knock them out. Wilde has the third longest recorded unbeaten streak in boxing history, having gone 92?0?1.
