      First edition, first printing (with latter stated upon copyright page and 1958 date specified on both title and copyright pages per Houghton's usual practice). [8], 376 pages. Hardcover: H 21.75cm x L 14.5cm. Dust jacket rubbed and soiled; deep chipping at spine head along with tape repair plus long tearing ascending from spine heel; front flap's top corner is price-clipped; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Pale mustard cloth spine lightly bumped and scuffed at ends; brown patterned paper boards have slender shelf scuffing along bottom edges. Reddish-brown top edge; two stray ink marks on bottom edge. Ink signatures of past mother-daughter owners on front free endpaper; light toning and a few foxing spots to endpapers; approximately ten leaves are creased at top fore-edge corners from past fold-downs; past owner's ink notes on rear free endpaper verso with some discreet ink markings on pages 40, 66, 70, 71, and 72; no other such markings readily apparent upon a quick perusal (but may be present) and interior pages are otherwise clean. Binding is firm. A good+ copy in a good dust jacket.
