John Laing of Troon, Ayrshire (1850 and 1931) He travelled to Australia working as a cook, but returned to Troon where there is a street named after him. He published this book of traditional Scottish poetry* and was a regular contributor to the local Troon newspaper. The work contains a preface by John Laing.
