Durch sein Interesse zur Frage über die Entstehung der sog. Schneeblindheit und damit zum Studium der pathogenen Einwirkung des Lichts auf das Auge und die Haut konnte er nachweisen, dass sowohl die Schneeblindheit und elektrische Ophthalmie, wie auch das Sonnen-Erythem und das elektrische Haut-Erythem auf einer direkten Einwirkung der ultravioletten Strahlen des Lichtes beruhen.
