Untergang handelt es sich um eine Württembergische juristische Spezialität, die lt. Hoffmann bis auf das Jahr 1493 zurückgehen soll. "Nach dem Landrechte werden untergängliche Sachen diejenigen Streitigkeiten genannt, die sich sowohl in Städten als in Dörfern der Gebäude - und auf dem Felde der Markungen, Dienstbarkeiten und andere Gerechtsame wegen ereignen. Die neueren Gesetze nehmen dann eine Untergangs-Sache als vorhanden an, wenn a) ein Streit über privatrechtliche Verhältnisse durch das Nebeneinanderliegen von gebäuden oder Feldgütern, oder deren wechselseitige Beziehung in Hinsicht auf die Benutzung entstanden ist, b) der Streit ohne Augenschein sich nicht entscheiden läßt, c) gleichwohl aber einfach ist, und eine kurze und summarische Verhandlung gestattet.Nach dem im vorigen § gegebenen Begriff sind nur Streitigkeiten über privatrechtliche Verhältnisse von der bezeichneten Art als Untergangs-Sachen anzusehen." Kl.-4°. 38 SS., 1 Bl. Br. mit Rückenfalz. Friedrich Hoffmann (Halle a.d.Saale 1660 - 1742) war Mediziner der Frühaufklärung und Erfinder der Hoffmannstropfen. Unter Hoffmann wurden 300 seiner Schüler zu Doktoren der Medizin promoviert. Zu ihnen gehörte auch Philipp Adolph Böhmer, später wie Hoffmann mehrfach Prorektor der Universität. Als Mediziner beschäftigte sich Hoffmann auch mit der Hexenlehre. Im Oktober 1703 wurde der Medizinstudent Gottfried Büching in Halle mit dem Werk De potentia diaboli in corpora bei Hoffmann promoviert.
