Hellfeld, from 1755 Pandect Professor at the University of Jena, edited his Jurisprudentia forensis, which was to gain lasting fame through Glück's great commentary, for the first time in 1764. The pandectist textbook follows the legal structure of the Digest. The work saw its final edition in 1806, a few years before the emergence of the Historical School under von Savigny and the soon dominant pandectist system.
