Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. MISSIONARY WORK HEROES OF THE CROSS BY JOHN BARTHOFF NO DATE HARD COVER DJ. I am pleased to offer what can only be considered a scarce to rare book as I was unable to find any copy of it on various book trade websites. Please find: Heroes of the Cross John Williams, James Chalmers, and Abel of Kwato, by John Barthoff. This small hard cover book (5 ¼ x 7 ½ inches, 96 pages) was published by Marshall, Morgan & Scott of London and Edinburgh with no date found in the book. I did, however, find two other volumes of the series online, dating from the 1930 s. The book is bound in a light grayish green cloth with light blue decorations and titles on cover and spine; it is protected by a printed, pictorial dust jacket. The book includes a color frontispiece and a number of b&w drawings and photos illustrating the text. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket shows some very slight rubbing at the corners and spine tips and along the rear gutter (please see the photos). The hard covers are clean, bright and unbumped. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages and plates are clean and bright throughout. I did find one tiny tear on the leading edge of page 41/42. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight, sound and square. The binding is cracked at page 65 but neatly so without really affecting the integrity of the binding. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
