In the Intro, the making of the book is described as "strictly American in its fabric, and when its typographical beauty and the delicacy and finish of its engravings are considered, it will be readily acknowledged that few works of the American or even European press have surpassed it in point of execution." 25 engravings, each covered with rice paper. Light rubbing to covers, some foxing to pages, frontispiece loose but present. A nice copy of a lovely production. Book.

There are gilt page edges all round.This copy is bright, tight, white and square. A dust wrapper is not called for. There is a fine copperplate gift inscription to the f.f.e.p. " A present from the Bishop of Llandaff to Miss Snell in acknowledgement of her kind attention and faithful services in the Girls School. Front board is detached, rest of binding is intact, boards lightly rubbed and marked, edges marbled, top edge lightly foxed, lovely clean marbled endpapers, ink inscription to first prelim, some lightly foxing to some pages and lovely engraved plates throughout. Would be Very good if the front board wasn't separated. Good only. Book.
