FLEMING WROTE THIS BOOK WHILE RECOVERING FROM A HEART ATTACK AND DUE TO THE TIME IT WAS TAKING JOHN BURNINGHAM TO COMPLETE THE ILLUSTRATIONS THE BOOK WAS PUBLISHED IN 3 SEPARATE VOLUMES (THE FIRST 2 IN 1964 AND VOLUME 3 IN 1965 AFTER FLEMING'S DEATH). All 3 books have no creased page corners, flat white pages with sharp outer page corners, no foxing to pages or endpapers or outer page edges, hint of dust soiling to outer page edges (no age darkening), free endpapers removed on #3 otherwise endpapers are clean and free from any tape residue or discoloration, no former owner's markings or used bookseller stamps/stickers inside (common with these children's books), no wear to board edges, hint of wear to couple of corners, shelf rubbing to spine tips, closed tear to top of spine on #1 otherwise no tearing to floating spines (common defect with these somewhat fragile designed books), bit of tape at top right corner on #3, small surface color tear to board on #2, no bumped board corners of note, slight discoloration/soiling to boards. All 3 books comes with color facsimiles of the UK issue dust jackets to provide protection from damage and to improve shelf appearance. Overall a decent starter set of all 3 original UK Chitty books by Ian Fleming. I have a number of other U.S. and U.K. Ian Fleming James Bond printing hardcover up for sale.

All 3 Dust jackets have no chipping or creasing, tiny nick tear at top edge on front panel on #2 (otherwise no tearing to DJs), almost no wear to spine tips, no wear to front flap crease, no wear to left/right on spine, no color rubbing, slight spine sun darkening on #1 otherwise NONE OF THE USUAL SPINE SUN DARKENING, virtually no edge wear and no dust soiling to top/bottom edges (common defect with these DJS as the glossy covering was not extended all of the way to the top & bottoms of the paper), almost no dust soiling to panels (common defect with these all white DJs), very very tiny spot at top right on spine on #2 otherwise no soiling or staining. Overall a FINE-/N-FINE set of books in FINE-/N-FINE condition dust jackets (1 not price clipped) of an Ian Fleming U.S. 1st printing hardcover book. I have a number of other U.S. and U.K. Ian Fleming James Bond 1st printing hardcover appearances up for sale. Signed by Illustrator(s).
