DJ is in extremely poor shape and is in numerous pieces with large chip missing on backside and smaller chips and tears on front. This book chronicles the remarkable life of the late John Craig Havemeyer, a man whose contributions to business, philanthropy, and civic life left an enduring mark on New York City and beyond. Born into a family of German and Scottish immigrants, Havemeyer's life exemplifies the immigrant experience in America. This thoroughly researched biography explores his early life, education, and rise to prominence as a successful businessman in the sugar industry. Drawing on his personal writings and recollections from family and friends, the author paints a vivid portrait of a man guided by unwavering religious principles throughout his life.
