Leather. Condition: Good. None (illustrator). A collection of John Dyer's poetical works. Rather rare, he does appear in the Cooks series but a sigle published volume like this is hard to find. Comprising of all four books of The Fleece, his 'Grongar Hill' and 'The Ruins of Rome' John Dyer was a painter and Welsh poet. His best known poem is his Grongar Hill. The publisher of this work is not stated. With two poems, one by Thomas Campbell and another by Mary Robinson, to the pastedowns by a prior owner. In a full calf binding with gilt stamping to spine. Externally, sound with slight rubbing to the extremities and to the joints. Joints are cracked, with front joint starting but firm. Small loss to the front and rear boards due to rubbing. Hinges are tender. Prior owner has pasted Thomas Campbell's poem 'Written on Bisiting a Scene in Argyleshire to the front pastedown and 'To An Infant Sleeping' by Mary Robinson to the rear pastedown. Prior owner's inscriptions to the recto of front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Appears to be lacking a front endpaper. Pages are slightly age toned, mostly to edges, with the odd spots throughout. Good. book.
