Crisp, clean pages except for a few small, pale spots on the front endpapers; no owners' marks; hard cover shows only mild surface wear at corners and spine ends. Jacket is conspicuously worn at spine ends and uppers, the surface scored as with old insect damage, and has tiny open chips at corners and light gray smudges over joints, but remains unclipped, vivid, and now protected in a clear sleeve. 190pp. Winner of the 1964 German Children's Book Prize.

Very faint foxing to page block. Otherwise, pages are clean and crisp. Binding is strong and boards are sturdy. Dust jacket has slight wear to corners. Two 0.5 inch surface stains to top front. Light 2 inch rip to back flap fold. Slight discoloration inside jacket. Otherwise, jacket is intact. No other major wear or markings. All text and imagery bold and bright. Now in protective mylar cover.

A very good copy clean and straight with minor scuffing to the front cover and an X in pencil ot the top and bottom edges of the text block. Text is clean and unmarked and binding is solid. Unclipped jacket is in Good plus condition with general shelf-wear to the edges and some soiling to the large white panels. 64 pp., black and white and color representations of Walter Johns paintings and sculptures.
