Hij heette eigenlijk Jan van der Meulen, hij was leraar Engels aan de Rijks-HBS in Breda, en hij werd vermaard als de taalkunstenaar John O Mill, die in zijn eigen taal, het Double Dutch, het Nederlands en het Engels op een onge?venaarde manier samenbracht: A terrible infant, called Peter sprinkled his bed with a gheter. His father got woost, took hold of a cnoost and gave him a pack on his meter Tienduizenden exemplaren werden er van zijn boekjes verkocht en hele generaties kenden zijn verzen uit het hoofd. Zijn herontdekking kwam via de Opperlandse Taal- en Letterkunde van Battus en de bloemlezing Ik wou dat ik twee hondjes was van Vic van de Reijt, waarin tientallen verzen van O Mill werden opgenomen. Maar zijn eigen boekjes, zoals Lyrical Laria en Literary Larycook, zijn alleen nog maar antiquarisch te vinden. Hoogste tijd voor een definitieve keuze uit zijn werk, gemaakt door zijn bewonderaars Ivo de Wijs en Pieter Nieuwint. En zo is O Mill ontrukt aan de vergetelheid snatched away from the Mill of Time.
