Gorgeous fresh marbled endpapers. Small circular stamp of St. Paul's College to bottom right of first blank page. Text is unmarked, although there is some typical foxing and age-toning. Table of Contents and one-page catalogue of books bound in at end. The book contains 240 pages of text, half of which is in English, and the facing half in the French translation making this, "A Work very useful to Those who desire to improve themselves in the French tongue, and containing a great Variety of Subjects." Overall, near fine. John Plairet (1697-1774) was the French teacher to three of King Geroge II's children, and wrote several French education compendiums.
