Gilt titles on black cloth. 468pp. A missionary's account of his travels around the Great Lakes, Detroit, Mackinaw Island, Indians, Kewawenon mission, etc. Great early history/travel in the Midwest, with much on local Indian life. Owners' names on both sides of ffep. Names, penciled portrait on rear end papers. Pencil erasures on several pages and pencil markings on three pages. Dated 1857, but an internal credit references 1861, so this is likely an 1860s printing. This edition contains no plates, and there are no indications that plates have been removed, although four plates were included in earlier printings. Size: Octavo.

Binding on spine partially detached along the rear board. Hinges remain in good condition and text block remains bound with minor wear.
