First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. 306 pages, hardcover with dust jacket, 10.5" by 8.25". Beautiful book on the prints of Thoreau MacDonald, the son of J.E.H. MacDonald, the founder of the Canadian painting collective the Group of Seven. Thoreau's chosen media, however, was printmaking and book illustration, rendered in an idiom reminiscent of American Arts and Crafts and artist Rockwell Kent. Exquisitely printed book which won a design award, conceived as a chronological reprinting of intimate and sweetly spoken letters by the artist, accompanied by dozens of prints, illustration work and drawings. A gem of a book, most highly recommended. In excellent condition, with book award sticker on front - this book won a design award.
