A fine history of Derbyshire CCC, published - as verified with Padwick - by the county club itself in its centenary year. The illustrations are a great feature in this well-constructed book. Foreword by the Duke of Devonshire, President of the Club. This copy is no 400 in a limited edition of 500 (1st edition extended for 250 copies, the so-named 2nd edition took the number to 500, per information on the Dedication page. This copy is known to have been in the ownership of the inestimable Peter Wynne-Thomas and it is assumed that the pencilled annotations for five or so pages early on in the book were written by PWT. Some bumping at cover edges and at spine; internally, though there might be the occasional mark, very clean and tidy.

The story of Percy Perrin's tremendous innings of 343 not out for Derbyshire at Queen's Park, Chesterfield, in 1904, only for him to end on the losing side against Essex for whom Charles Ollivierre's total of 321 runs in the match, for once out, was vital. Short biographies of all who played in the match and other aspects, including one chapter entitled 'Memories of a Derbyshire Cricketer' (based on the recall of Jim Hutchinson, who played for Derbyshire 1920-31), make this book extremely fascinating. This is a limited edition of 75 copies, of which only the first 41 were signed by Jim Hutchinson due to his "advanced age [of] 103". This copy is number 38 and is thus signed by both. Foreword by Gerald Brodribb. The most minuscule of small marks at bottom of title page, yet still in Near Fine condition. Signed by Author(s).
