Mass Market Paperback. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 1st Redfox printing, faded spine. First postwar printing with the Germans restored in the text as the bad guys, Nice copy of what is quite a common title. The Redfox edition has an outstanding feature not found in any of the editions after World War 2 in that it uses the text almost unaltered from the original Printing by John Hamilton. Later printings by Thames and Dean & Son (1952-1985) had text which is considerably altered from the original including changing the bad guys to the Russians and removing the technical details of the German aircraft. If you haven't got the thousands to spend on a John Hamilton edition and you want as close to the original text as possible then this is the edition for you. Where possible small books will have postage reduced.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. Leslie, Stead (illustrator). First Edition. Another action-packed book in the "Biggles" Series that started in the 1940s! Biggles and the Pirate Treasure is a 1954 collection of eleven short adventure stories featuring Biggles and his team, with the title story centering on a descendant of a pirate who discovers a treasure map but whose greed ultimately leads to tragedy. The book, first published by Brockhampton Press, gathers tales originally appearing in annuals and periodicals, alongside some written specifically for this volume. In the opening story, Biggles and the Pirate Treasure, the plot revolves around the lure of hidden riches and the destructive consequences of avarice. Other stories in the collection showcase Biggles and his Special Air Section tackling smuggling rings, thefts, and mysterious disappearances. In The Case of the Obliging Tourist, a chance encounter helps Biggles dismantle a jewelry smuggling racket, while Night Flight sees him investigating planes vanishing over the Middle East. Each tale blends suspense with action, often highlighting the dangers of greed, deception, and criminal enterprise. The collection reflects W.E. Johns' hallmark style: brisk storytelling, moral clarity, and a focus on loyalty and courage. Though the title story gives the book its name, the volume as a whole emphasizes Biggles' role as a problem-solver who confronts both international intrigue and local mysteries. The stories are compact, designed for quick reading, but together they form a mosaic of mid?20th century adventure fiction, balancing exotic settings with the familiar camaraderie of Biggles and his companions. Hardcover. Condition: Fair+/Good-. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Leslie Stead (illustrator). 1st Edition. Price clipped jacket is a little worn with a chip to the heel. Book is quite marked and worn. The boards have a large black stripe painted on the front and back board concealed by the wrapper, lots of small marks to the interior and is well read. In the Blue often loses the jacket so this is a good candidate for lifting the jacket and placing on a better copy of the book.
