Exterior lightly rubbed, mostly around spine edges, 1/4" tears across upper & lower spine cloth; interior hinge paper partially split at endpapers, though hinges firm; foxing to opening & closing pgs. & very mildly, occasionally within. Otherwise good given age, contents unmarked, binding tight. 626 pp. With many illustrations on wood, drawn by Wolf, engraved by Whymper.

Binding tight - front pastedown covering slightly cracked at gutter revealing mesh but hinge strong, no annotations or inscriptions; tanning to page-ends but text and illustrations clean and clear throughout.

Hardcover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. Foster, William (illustrator). Olive green covers with gilt embossed picture of bird to front. Gilt lettering to spine which has severe shelf wear to top inch and slight rubbing to bottom. Hinges weak but book is extremely clean and the beautiful bird plates are undamaged.
