Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the intricate history and development of the United States Public Domain, which encompasses an expansive territory managed by the federal government. The author meticulously traces the roots of this domain back to its colonial origins, highlighting the various grants…, cessions, and treaties that shaped the nation's land ownership. The book delves into the legal framework governing the Public Domain, examining the liberal policies and land laws that have fostered its accessibility and facilitated its settlement. The author sheds light on the diverse array of Indigenous usufructuary rights and allodial tenures that coexist within the Public Domain, demonstrating the complex interplay between federal, state, and Native American land interests. The book also explores the role of the United States surveying system in demarcating and organizing the Public Domain, enabling its orderly settlement and economic development. Ultimately, this book provides a comprehensive understanding of the historical, legal, and cultural aspects of the Public Domain, offering valuable insights into its significance in shaping the growth and character of the United States. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
