En 4º menor (217 x 145)mm. 136, 21, (3) pp. Atractiva encuadernación en pleno tafilete rojo de época, rueda dorada en los planos; adornos florales en la lomera y tejuelo en marroquén verde con letrería dorada, cantos y contracantos dorados, cortes también dorados. Segunda edición nota…blemente aumentada, magníficamente impresa sobre fuerte papel de hilo en el Imprenta Real. La primera edición es de Barcelona, impresa el mismo año, pero es muy reducida y contiene sólo 21 páginas. Se publicó una tercera edición en 1797 y también el "Dictamen sobre las fábricas de algodón y lana" en edición aparte en 1784 y de nuevo 1788. Por su interés la obra fue traducida al italiano e impresa en tres ediciones en 1789, 1790 y 1791. La intervención de José Masdevall, médico catalán perteneciente a la generación ilustrada nombrado médico de Cámara de Carlos III, fue decisiva en las epidemias tercianas que asolaron Cataluña desde 1783. Estas epidemias, que tuvieron su origen en Lérida y los llanos de Urgel, se prolongaron hasta 1786 y se extendieron a las zonas arroceras valencianas, a los marjales de Murcia y en zonas de Andalucía. Las tercianas, o fiebre amarilla, motivaron un serio problema sanitario en Valencia: la epidemia de 1784 provocó en la zona arrocera una mortandad de más de ocho mil personas. "El Dr.Joseph Masdevall fue una notable figura histórica. Fue profesor de medicina en la Universidad de Cervera, médico de Carlos III y Fernando VII, Inspector de Epidemias en Cataluña y miembro de la Real Sociedad de Medicina de París" (Maggs). Excepcional ejemplar lujosamente encuadernado en tafilete rojo en la época. 217x145mm. (8½x5¾").
