FranÁois Maximilien Misson (1650 - 1722) fu un prolifero scrittore e viaggiatore francese.In seguito alla revoca dell'editto di Nantes, avvenuta con l'editto di Fontainebleau, le sue cariche al Parlamento di Parigi vennero revocate cosÏ come gli furono confiscati i beni. Pi? tardi lasciÚ il paese natio preferendo una regione riformata d'Europa dove cercÚ di ricostruirsi una posizione economica e sociale. Ottenne la carica di precettore del conte di Arran, figlio del Duca di Ormond. Il giovane nobile e Misson, iniziano a visitare l'Italia durante il tour di formazione sul continente (1687); in questi anni, Maximilien, scrisse Nouveau Voyage d'Italie, stampato nel 1691 e tradotto in tre lingue: inglese, tedesco e olandese, diventando cosÏ il best seller della letteratura di viaggio (per decenni fu tra le pi? consultate guide per viaggiatori, specialmente nel XVIII secolo). Ancora di queste citt? parler? poi nel volume Memorie per i viaggiatori, ricco di nuovi consigli ed indicazioni. Ottimo esemplare fresco e ben inchiostrato. Nel vol. 4 la numerazione salta da pag. 365 manoscritta a pag. 375 a stampa. Alcune malnumerazioni. La collazione di altre copie censite varia nel numero delle tavole.
