Add to basketPaper. Condition: Good. First Edition. An Original Hand R and J Beck Manufacturer of Optical, Mathematical and Physical Instruments Written Letter and Signed by Joseph Beck. Dated 1887. A letter from Beck about trying to obtain a book for Mr Heywood. Richard Beck 1827-1866 and Joseph Beck 1828-1891 formed the optical manufacturing firm of R and J Beck in 1843, based at 69 Mortimer Street, London. Credited with helping to raise the status of the use of microscopes within scientific research. Camera lenses of R and J Beck are known as Beck Ensign, and the Frena camera was developed in the 1890s, using celluloid films.The company is still going strong today. Size is 190mm x 125mm.
