Signed by Howell on the title page. An inscription on the first free leaf notes: "Bequeathed to G. Dwight by his hon'd grandfather David Howell Saturday, November 13th 1824". Gamaliel Lyman Dwight (1809-1854) was the son of Sarah Cooke Howell, Howell's daughter.
