Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 453 pages. Octavo (8 3/4" x 6") bound in original publisher's light blue cloth, lettered in white to spine, top edge stained red in an original red, white, and blue dust jacket designed by Paul Bacon. With souvenir typescript, one page (11" x 8 1/2") signed in black ballpoint, "Joseph Heller. Housed in a custom made enclosure. First edition with first state jacket. Souvenir typescript excerpt from chapter one of the great satirical novel Catch-22, beginning: "It was love at first sight. The first time Yossarian saw the chaplain he fell madly in love with him." signed by Heller in black ballpoint pen. Catch-22 is a satirical war novel by American author Joseph Heller. It is his debut novel. He began writing it in 1953, and the book was first published in 1961. Often cited as one of the most significant novels of the 20th century, it uses a distinctive non-chronological third-person omniscient narration, describing events from the points of view of different characters. The separate storylines are out of sequence so the timeline develops along with the plot. The novel satirizes military bureaucracy and greed. Condition: Some staining to cloth along top edge and at foot of spine. Jacket lightly rubbed with a few small tears along edges, some with tape repairs to reverse, small puncture to back panel at fold else very good in like jacket housed in custom orange-brown marbled cloth clamshell box. Souvenir typescript fine. Paul Bacon (illustrator). Signed by Author(s).…
