Paper bound, souvenir edition, quarto, illustrated throughout, 56pp. A tight, unmarked, very good or better copy. 170 grams. From the Foreword by Robert T. Taft: "Of all the places in the whole of western Canada, Fort Rouge is by far the oldest name and it was the name given to the area now known as the City of Winnipeg by the erection of a Fort by Pierre Gaultier De La Verendrye, fur trader and explorer, when he erected "Fort Rouge" at the junction of the Assiniboine and the Red River in the year 1738. Forts that followed were given different names such as Fort Gibraltar and then finally Fort Garry. But the first, most famous and lasting is Fort Rouge and this leadership in many things is being continued as is evident by the activity of the citizens committees and sports groups of the Fort Rouge Community in this Winnipeg's Centennial Year." All books in stock and available for immediate shipment from Winnipeg, Manitoba.
