The plot revolves around Aunt Jane, "a kind-hearted maiden lady", who has collected a group of poor children through a charity organization in order to give them a "real Christmas" at her home. Her maid, Martha, is quite disgusted with the idea, more so when Aunt Jane is called away to the home of a sick friend and the party is left up to a young niece. In the midst of the party, a visitor tells the children of a poor family who will have no Christmas because the father is ill. The children decide to collect some disused clothes from Aunt Jane's house and give them to the poor family. While they plan this, Santa Claus enters saying his airplane has landed in a nearby field for repairs so he thought he'd look in on the children. When Aunt Jane returns and learns of her guests plans, she is deeply touched; "to think--I planned to give them a real Christmas and they planned to give it away!". Santa climaxes the story saying, "There can be no real Christmas unless it is a sharing Christmas!".
