    15. Album containing a collection of 32 engravings of decorative vases ; 17 by Marot , 6 by Hertel, 4 by Leblond, 2 by Grossmann , 2 anonymous. The engravings are carefully mounted in an 19th century album, size 34 x 23 cm, half cloth binding, with the ex-libris of Baron Surmont de Volsberghe. (He most likely had this collection bound ). Mounted on the first page of the album is an extensive 18th c. anonymous manuscript ex-dono to the Ghent stonecutter and sculptor Judocus Blavier, dated 23rd August 1763. This stonecutter is e.g. mentionned in ''Musée lapidaire des ruines de Saint-Bavon à Gand , catalogue des dalles funéraires.'' (by Jean Baron De Béthune-de Villers, 1892). This album, composed in the 19th c., with the remains of a ''portfolio'' of engraved designs for decorative vases from the collection of an 18th c. identifiable artisan stonecutter, is a rare surviving testimony of the use made by ''simple craftsmen'' of these elegant and sophisticated , mostly French, designs.
