Juni 1929 in Darmstadt) war Soziologe (Soziologie der Technik), Kulturwissenschaftler, Philosoph (Pragmatist James'scher Praegung, dessen Pluralistisches Universum" er uebersetzte, 1913) und Physiker. Er wurde bereits 1901 Privatdozent fuer Philosophie an der TH Darmstadt. Im Ersten Weltkrieg war er Offizier. 1925 wurde er nach Widerstaenden a.o. Prof. fuer Philosophie an der Technischen Hochschule Darmstadt (um seine Ernennung zum Professor entbrannte ein antisemitischer Streit, in dessen Verlauf Rudolf Eucken und Ernst Troeltsch sich oeffentlich zugunsten Goldsteins aussprachen).
