Original grey linen, with gold lettering to spine and front cover. Front free endpaper inscribed and signed by the artist to Ruth Hatfield.* Tipped in onto fly leaf is a splendid 10 3/4 x 9" original watercolor on Vélin, protected with a rice paper tissue-guard. This unique presentation copy of Jun Dobashi's artwork portfolio reproduces the entire Japanese artist's work produced between 1956 and 1967. Text in Japanese and French. Binding and interior in very good condition. * Ruth Hatfield was the wife of Dalzell Hatfield (1893-1963), a prominent art dealer of Los Angeles.

Born in Tokyo in 1910, Junichi (Jun) Dobashi studied at the city s art academy in 1933. He studied at the Tokyo Academy of Fine Arts and graduated in oil painting in 1938. He was then a member of a group of artists known in Japan as Khinjukai (Shinjuki). Shinjuku is a monster that includes the youth and strength of modern Japan. To express these ideas, an eye that looks at everything in the modern world, such as the flow of time and the movement of thought, is the best. The young artist. Signed by Author(s).
