Recently rebound in quarter scarlet leather, matching red sides, gilt title to the spine. Folio 16'' x 11½''. The original edition engraved on copper plates by William Hole, was published in 1611. It was again printed from the same plates in 1613, with the addition of a dedication. Subsequent impressions (always from the original plates) appeared in 1635, 1650, and 1659. The Parthenia claims the merit of having been the first musical work printed from copper plates; and example that was generally followed, in regard to instrumental music, both in this country and on the continent. Contains half-title, title-page, facsimile page of the original from 1611, illustrated title-page, dedication, 3 page introduction with vignette above the first leaf, 50 pages of score.
