Condition: Good, unless otherwise noted. 20x13cm, 46, 23, 28, 33 folded leaves. 100 full page b/w lithographic illustrations. // A totally-delicious illustrated lithography work from the venerable Saoye Shanfang in Shanghai. Four volumes depicting numerous stories of deception and cheating, each tale accompanied by a full page detailed lithographic illustration. The majority of the illustrations are traditional Chinese in nature with a few showing late 19th/early 20th century Shanghai scenes. Dated Xuantong Yuan Nian (1909) on the last page of volume 4. In Chinese. Occasional minor foxing. Slight waterstain to lower section of last 10 leaves of volume 4 but generally clean throughout. Some grubbiness and wear to covers. The volumes contained In a board case that is of uniform size to this work but has a different title slip. Very rare.
