Den Kern bilden Vorlesungen und Fortbildungs-Vortrage, in denen versumt wurde, die inzwismen etwas unlibersimtlim gewordene antimikrobielle Chemotherapie so einfam darzustellen, wie es der Stand unseres Wissens noch erlaubt. Das Bum solI ein stets bereiter Helfer bei der praktismen An wendung der Chemotherapie sein. Dazu muBten zwei Voraus setzungen erflillt werden, die einander widerspremen: im For mat muBte es buchstablich ein Tasmenbum bleiben, im Inhalt durfte es sich trotzdem nicht auf mehr oder weniger vage An gaben beschranken, sondern hatte aus leimt auffindbaren, mog lichst genauen Informationen und konkreten Hinweisen zu be stehen. Urn beiden Forderungen einigermaBen gerecht zu wer den, muBte ein Preis gezahlt werden: Stichworte statt ganzer Satze, Auswahl statt Vollstandigkeit. Der Leser darf formal von diesem Buch nicht mehr erwarten als von einem leidlich libersichtlichen Nachschlagewerk. Die Tabellen 41-64 zum klinischen Teil sind am SchiuB zusammengefaBt. Sie sind per foriert, damit sie im Bedarfsfall herausgetrennt und stets griff bereit aufbewahrt werden konnen. Die Auswahl des Inhalts ist ganz unter dem Gesichtspunkt der therapeutischen Anwendung getroffen. An Theorie wurden nur die Dinge berlicksimtigt, die zu einer kritismen Beurteilung der einzelnen Mittel und ihrer sinnvollen Nutzung notwendig sind.
