First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Good. Presumed first edition (no additional printings listed). Quarter blue cloth (spine) and pictorial paste-down paper covered boards, oblong 11x8 inches, 5 single-sided pages on stiff cardboard, illustrated with chromolithographs. Hardcover, good, no dustjacket (as issued). Moderate shelf wear, some soil, scratches and shelf scuffing on boards, previous owner's signature (in pencil) , shaken, scrap mark and some bits of paper on side edge of paste-down rear endpaper, otherwise tight, clean, unmarked. Unusual children's book; consists of envelope on reverse side of front cover which contained 38 jigsaw puzzle style bird's head pieces (all present) , which are now precisely placed on each drawing of the bird. Rare; no copies on OCLC. Children's; natural history; lithographs; toys; antiques; collectibles.
