Sheet Music First Edition
Vintage vocal piano sheet music edition featuring Vaughn Monroe and His Orchestra on the cover. Orange-and-black illustrated design with photographic inset portrait of Monroe; complete with piano score, lyrics, and ukulele/guitar chord diagrams. Rear advertising pages promote Remick's Rainbow Album of Popular Songs series and American Patriotic Songs. A strong example of mid-1940s American popular sheet music, issued during Vaughn Monroe's rise as one of the era's most commercially successful bandleaders and radio personalities. The clean modernist cover design departs from the more ornate prewar aesthetic and reflects changing graphic styles in wartime and immediate postwar music publishing. Interior music pages remain crisp and highly legible, with period instrumental chord notation appealing to collectors of ukulele, guitar, and swing-era arrangements. Condition: Very Good. Light handling wear and mild edge creasing; small corner bends and gentle waviness from storage. Spine fold remains solid and well attached. Interior pages clean with bright paper and no significant markings observed. Minor age toning typical of wartime paper stock. Copyright date visible as 1945 by Jerome H. Remick & Co., complete as issued. A notably well-preserved copy overall for ephemeral sheet music of the period. Gus Kahn (1886-1941) was among the most prolific lyricists of the Tin Pan Alley era, writing standards such as It Had to Be You and Makin' Whoopee. Ted Fiorito 1900-1971, a prominent bandleader and composer, specialized in romantic popular melodies that translated effectively to radio and dance orchestra performance. Vaughn Monroe later became one of the defining crooners of the late swing era, remembered for hits including Riders in the Sky.
