HOFFMANN, Michael (Hoffmann Mihály) [SJ] - KAIDACSI, Antonius (Kajdacsy Antal): Excellentissimo illustrissimo ac reverendissimo domino Gerorgio Klimo. . . Universae philosophiae assertiones ex praelectionibus Michaelis Hoffmann e soc[ietate] Jesu. . . publice propugnabat perillustris ac eruditus dominus Antonius Kaidacsi. . . anno M.DCC.LXI. mense Augusto. . . (Dedicated to György Klimó, Bishop of Pécs). Budae [Buda], 1761. Typis Leopoldi Francisci Landerer. [8] p. Bound in a later, period-style painted paper binding with a title label on the front board. (Folio). An extremely rare, Latin-language academic examination document (a printed collection of disputation theses). The booklet was prepared for the public philosophy examination held at the Jesuit Academy of Buda (Szécsényi College) in August 1761. The theses were compiled based on the lectures of the Jesuit philosophy professor Michael Hoffmann, and were publicly defended by Antonius Kaidacsi (Antal Kajdacsy), a graduating student originating from Tolna County. The publication was dedicated to one of the greatest cultural patrons and library founders of the era, György Klimó, Bishop of Pécs and perpetual Lord Lieutenant of Baranya and Tolna counties. Since such examination booklets were produced specifically for a single event in extremely low print runs for a restricted audience, original copies are now considered major bibliographical rarities. The title page, set in beautiful Baroque typography, is a testament to the excellent work of Leopold Francis Landerer's famous Buda printing house. ( O,O ) /)__) , ,
