The images are compelling rather than ludicrous or gratuitous, due largely to Izima's considerable compositional skill and the brilliant play of color and his smart reconceptualization of ideals of glamour and beauty (the models are all wearing high fashion clothes by the likes of Comme des Garcons and Yohji Yamamoto). Several series of photos are profiled, each an imaginative sequence of numerous images from several different angles.

Text jap u engl.- Der japanische Fotograf Izima Kaoru, 1954 in Kyoto geboren, zeigt seit Ende der 70er Jahre sein künstlerisches Werk in zahlreichen internationalen Ausstellungen und Museen. Bekannt wurde er durch seine Fotoserie ?Landscape with a corpse?, an der er zwischen 1993 bis 2008 arbeitete.- Olivier Gerval ist Absolvent der École supérieure des arts appliqués in Paris. Er fühlt sich von Kunst, Design, Mode und Kommunikation angezogen, die er alle als wesentlich für die Entwicklung seiner Arbeit ansieht. Schon früh vereinte er seine verschiedenen Interessen und entwickelte sie in Symbiose, ohne zu versuchen, einem von ihnen den Vorzug zu geben.
