Portfolio of 15 woodcuts (19" x 15") printed in 13 colors from original woodcuts and zinc plates made from the original woodprints by Edith Kaplan along with text pages, all loosely laid in a gray cloth folder with a printed label on the front. Preface by Bayard Rustin with poems by various authors, most notably Alice Walker, edited with historical notes by Helen Haynes. Includes title, preface, text, and colophon sheets. Vibrant woodcuts accompanied by poetry and prose dealing with the African-American experience in the South in the mid-20th century. Copy #248 of 300 SIGNED by the artist. Prospectus laid in. Text sheet #7 lacking with duplicate of #8 included; colophon sheet wrinkled and creased at top. Overall Near Fine.
