No Binding. Condition: Good. In these two stampless cover letters, dated Feb. 23 and Mar. 17, 1846, Keep writes to Sanford Hewit of Petersburg, New York informing him that he is procuring and making two gravestones according to the latter's specifications. ".I have calculated them for to stand in a sockett on bedstone in consequence of not being able to procure a stone of sufficient length to set in the ground". He asks Hewit to collect them from the Pittsfield depot and pay the freight. The March 17 letter has a note acknowledging Hewit's payment signed by an agent for the freight company. Both letters have red "Railroad Car" cancellations. Written on two 10" x 15" folded sheets of paper. Condition: Mailing fold lines and some creasing, a few spots of soil. Generally good condition and quite readable. Signed by Author(s).
