paperback. Condition: Acceptable. Rip to the cover (or dustjacket if hardback), or significant tearing to pages. Please see the condition note after this for details, if this is missing please consider Acceptable to mean poor quality that could include major staining, water damage, writing, missing dustjacket, etc etc. Our books… are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.

ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Hardcover, 2009). 2009 1st edition. 8vo (158 x 242mm). Ppx,214. Not illustrated. Black boards, spine titled in gilt. Very good in slightly used dust-wrapper. Keith Arthur, well-known angling presenter on television and radio, shares his recollectio…ns of a lifetime of fishing. "Keith Arthur was born in Holloway, North London, in 1946. He started fishing at an early age and it has remained his passion ever since. Keith worked in the fishing tackle industry for 20 years before becoming the resident expert on Sky Sports' Tight Lines angling programme in 1995. He accepted the role of Tight Lines presenter in 2004 and continues this role to date. Since 1999 Keith has also presented Fisherman's Blues, the UK's only fishing show on national radio on talkSPORT. Keith has written several specialist angling titles since 1980 and has produced his own column in Angling Times since 1990. He has fished in many countries for a wide variety of species of fish. Now living with his wife Susan close to his beloved River Thames, Keith still spends as much of his time as possible loafing in the countryside and this is the subject of his much anticipated first book. Fishing: The Best Excuse for Loafing in the Countryside is Keith's angling memoirs and is jam-packed full of his memories and tales of his angling career and childhood memories. Every angler that ever cast a line has an idyll. Whether that is casting for wild trout in a pristine Irish stream, waiting for the attack of a giant blue marlin in the Indian Ocean or catching gudgeon from a river in an English town centre, they will be lost in the moment. Keith Arthur describes that 'being lost' under the general heading of loafing in the countryside and in this book he describes how he has loafed through better than half-a-century since growing up in North London and being adopted as a television and radio presenter. From the mysteries of early captures through to battles with giant sharks this book follows him through some glorious and, occasionally, hilarious times. If you are an angler you will recognise yourself somewhere in these pages. If you are not, then maybe you will want to be after reading them." Chapters include:- Finsbury Park; Hampstead; The River Lea Navigation; The River Lea; The Tamesis; Teddy and the big cod; The Royalty; Blenheim Palace; The Kentish Stour; The Kentish Stour II; The birth of the blockend; The Terrapins; Alec's hat and other adventures; Great Ouse tales; Eyeballs in the sky; Irish adventures; On the fly; Paradise found; Big fish, blue water; Under African skies; Glossary of terms. .

The chosen cast presents seventeen facets of a story which, like a plant, is in continuous growth. others have fair claims to be included, but I shall not argue about that, no, I shall peacefully agree with every critic who says i ought to have left out A and brought in B. The names Lacharme, Lambert, Lammerts, De Ruiter, Swim, Mallerin, Lens and Cant roll out like a litany in which I, as a man with written words to cry on the market place, scent another book."--Jack Harkness ; FINE/FINE. Atlanta, tall octavo (10 by 7 inches), variously paged, with numerous plates, maps and text figures. ***CONTENT: These scarce Georgia volumes mostly deal with the mineral resources of the State. Volumes in this set include: Bulletin 20 (1913) - MINERAL SPRINGS OF GEORGIA, with 190 p., 25 plates and map; Bulletin 29 (1914) - ASBESTOS, TALC, AND SOAPSTONE DEPOSITS OF GEORGIA, with 319 p., 21 plates and map; Bulletin 30 (1915) - FELDSPAR AND MICA DEPOSITS, AND GEORGIA PEGMATITES, with 190 p., 9 plates and map; Bulletin 36 (1920) - BARYTES DEPOSITS OF GEORGIA, with 146 pp., 11 plates and 4 maps; Bulletin 39 (1922) - HISTORICAL SKETCH OF THE GEOLOGICAL SURVEY OF GEORGIA, with 154 p. and 7 plates; Bulletin 41 (1924) - IRON ORE DEPOSITS OF GEORGIA, with 222 p. and 10 plates; Bulletin 42 (1925) - PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY OF GEORGIA, with 189 p. and 43 plates; and Bulletin 43 (1928) - GEOLOGY OF THE TATE QUADRANGLE, GEORGIA, with 170 p., 22 plates and 2 maps. Many text figures in these volumes are actually maps. ***CONDITION: The seven hardcover volumes are complete, NEAR-FINE, and bound in the original decorated brick-red cloth, with gilt lettering on the backstrips. The covers are very well preserved and show only a trace of wear to the extremities. Backstrip lettering typically bold and bright. Joints and hinges solid, bindings firm. The text pages and illustrations are near pristine: fresh, clean and bright. Most of these volumes were deaccessioned from a New England library and have shelf labels on the lower spines, and small stamps on preliminary pages. Bulletin 39 and the other softcover reports are VG in the original printed-paper wrappers. The hardcover volumes are particularly handsome and contain a wealth of valuable information on Georgia geology. Domestic and international shipping will be extra, but only at my cost.
