Originally published in the US by Dodd Mead in 1960 under the title The Aluminum Turtle. A Duncan Maclain novel. The boards have a half-inch tear at the base of the spine which also has a crease down the centre. Creasing to the top right corner of the front panel and some bumping to the corners. Page edges browned. The front free endpaper has several numbers in pen and one number stamped on it along with some surface creasing and label residue. Patches of surface tearing to the front and rear pastedowns with three numbers in pen to the front pastedown. Library stamps to the title page. The pages have a few light stains and are rather worn but generally otherwise unmarked. The jacket is complete with closed tears at the top and bottom of the spine. There is some darkening in places, a stain to the rear panel, a heavy crease around the jacket just above the bottom edge and a little chipping at the corners. First printing.
