No Binding. Condition: Very Good. Kensuke Koike (illustrator). Very Good; newsprint supplement. The Lying Life of Adults - Pre-publication English Language Excerpt, in The New York Times Magazine Supplement. New York: Europa Editions / New York Times Magazine, August 16, 2020. A newsprint-size supplement, Atlas Folio size. a strong Very Good for a newsprint item, with some inevitable toning and of course folding. See scans. photographs are by Kensuke Koike. The pen-scrawls were in fact printed and intentional, as part of the production design, presumably as something depicted as scrawls by the novel's protagonist, twelve-year-old Giovanna Trada. Author Elena Ferrante writes pseudonymously, perhaps because of the passionate, interpersonal nature of her work, and perhaps because some of it deals with the Mafia. Some literary journalists do claim to know her identity. This excerpt publication is just 11 pages internally, plus the covers, but it is substantial in its totals words, even with some of the space being occupied by Kensuke Koike's artful photographs. A scarce predessor, by two weeks, of the English language publication of the novel. For the collector. Ships in very stout protection, of course. L19.

paperback. Condition: As New. Fotografie in bianco e nero su pagine rilegate a soffietto Design di Federico Carpani. Stampato presso L'Artiere. 8vo (cm 20x15). pp. 76. . Perfetto (Mint). . Prima edizione di 400 esemplari (I edition of 400 copies). . In 2015, French artist Thomas Sauvin acquired an album produced in the early 1980s by an unknown Shanghai University photography student. The album comprises original negatives, silver prints, manuscript comments from an anonymous professor, and shows the student's diligence in mastering the rules applying to the conventional portrait. This volume was given a second life through the expert hands of Kensuke Koike, a Japanese artist based in Venice whose practice combines collage and found photography. The series, ?No More, No Less?, born from the encounter between Koike and Sauvin, includes new silver prints made from the album's original negatives. These prints were then submitted to Koike's sharp imagination, who, with a simple blade and adhesive tape, deconstructs and reinvents the images. However, these purely manual interventions all respect one single formal rule: nothing is removed, nothing is added, ?No More, No Less? In such a context that blends freedom and constraint, Koike and Sauvin meticulously explore the possibilities of an image only made up of itself. La serie "No More, No Less", nata dall'incontro tra Koike e Sauvin, include nuove stampe in argento realizzate con i negativi originali dell'album. Queste stampe sono state quindi sottoposte alla forte immaginazione di Koike, che, con una semplice lama e un nastro adesivo, decostruisce e reinventa le immagini. Tuttavia, questi interventi puramente manuali rispettano tutti una generale regola formale: nulla viene rimosso, nulla viene aggiunto, "No More, No Less". In un contesto che fonde libertà e costrizione, Koike e Sauvin esplorano meticolosamente le possibilità di un'immagine fatta solo di se stessa. Prima edizione di 400 esemplari (I edition of 400 copies). Book.
