First Edition
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First edition of an early and influential modern price guide in the field of doll collecting, documenting market values and identifying characteristics for dolls ranging from early composition examples through mid-century vinyl. Compiled by Marlene Leuzzi with Fern Loiacono and Robert J. Kershner, this work reflects the rapid professionalization of doll collecting in the early 1970s, when standardized pricing references were still scarce. The volume is illustrated throughout in black and white, with photographed examples drawn from both private and authors' collections. Entries provide concise physical descriptions including materials, markings, dimensions, manufacturers, and original outfits paired with contemporary valuation data that offers collectors and researchers a valuable snapshot of the period market. Notable subjects include Ideal, American Doll & Toy Co., Disney-licensed dolls, Whimsies, and other mid-century collectibles. This copy is clean and complete, with bright interior pages and strong binding. The covers show light age-appropriate wear consistent with careful handling. A solid reference example of a foundational dealer-collector guide, increasingly uncommon in presentable condition. Small previous owner signature on front endpaper; otherwise unmarked.

First Edition Signed
Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Dust Jacket Condition: Poor. 1st Edition, Limited Edition. "Gold! That magic word turned the world into a wild, woolly stampede toward California in '49. Fast clipper ships, beauties to behold, loaded with freight and passengers, raced each other around the treacherous Cape Horn of South Africa and up the Pacific to San Francisco to join the hundreds of empty hulls anchored and deserted. Many returned to their home ports, others sailed on to Asia for cargoes of tea, coffee, and spices, and raced homeward to make history. Others were lost, never to be heard of again; but that is the life of the sea, cruel and filled to the brim with hardships, yet ever alluring to the sailor and adventurer -- to take things as he finds them, to mingle and merge, to love and marry irrespective of color or creed, that the world may carry on." Clean, SIGNED First Limited Edition #422, 1939, from a closed bookstore. As shown, dust jacket has considerable wear with torn areas on top front edge and back bottom corner, but book comes with a protective Mylar cover to prevent any future wear. Brown cloth cover is clean and corners are still fairly sharp. Flap is not clipped. Black and white frontispiece, "A Tahitian Lagoon." Author's inscription and signature, dated December 25, 1935 (pre-publication), appear on title page, along with a gold seal confirming the author's edition and number 422. No marked, creased, or torn deckle-edge pages, with normal aging of paper over time. A good copy. Book will be well packaged with signature confirmation for safe delivery. Paper Dragon is a 5-Star seller of popular books and does not solicit buyer ratings. OSL4. Signed by Author.
