"MIKE KETTLEWELL'S GUIDE TO BRITISH MOTOR RACING" 1979 softback, 544 pages Superb reference work combines a guide to the sport in Britain ion the late 70s with profiles of leading drivers in major and minor formulas, a guide to the manufacturers of racing cars and components, a historical look at all the major race winners at all the known British circuits up to that point so you get the details of, say the Jersey Road Race in the early 50s when it ran for F1 cars as well as the winners of the most recent European F3 event at Donington, The 1172 championship of Ireland result from Kirkistown and the Gold Cup result from Ouston in 1960 and so on. Many very obscure and little used tracks are included from Longridge and Long Kesh to Skerries and Oliver's Mount. Also threes a guide to F1 and the statistics of the world championship up to that point, the top race winners, most fastest laps, fastest races run, shortest races run and so on as well as a team guide and much else besides. There's a glossary of motor racing terminology and a directory of companies and people involved in the sport at the time. All in all a wonderful book and such a shame it became an annual. An updated edition came out in 1981 but some of the historical information was dropped from that so both editions are substantially different in content. faded spine but otherwise very good condition.…
