Der dritte Band bietet Nachträge zum ersten und der vierte eine Einleitung in den letzten Band" (ADB XV, 703) - Khamm (1645-1730) aus Zusamaltheim war Benediktiner in St. Ulrich und Afra, das vorliegende Opus magnum gilt Andreas Kraus als "die reifste Frucht der Barockhistoriographie zu St. Ulrich und Afra [.] Er war zwar allzu vertrauensselig den Quellen gegenüber, auch brachte sein Werk oft nur ungeordnete Massen von Stoff, aber es war doch die erste umfassende Bewältigung des Themas einer Geschichte aller kirchlichen Institutionen einer Diözese" (in: Spindler III/2, 3. Aufl., 668). - Mit schönen Kupfertiteln (drei gestochene Titel mit Karten der Diözese, einer mit einer Ansicht des Augsburger Domes), die weiteren Tafeln (alle in Band I) zeigen Reliquien, Szenen aus dem Leben von Heiligen und Geistlichen etc., das Gnadenbild der "Consolatrix afflictorum" mit einer Stadtansicht von Augsburg. - Etwas stockfleckig und gebräunt, Band I in der unteren Ecke stellenweise mit Wasserrand, die Blätter dort vereinzelt mit Spuren von Verklebungen. Die eindrucksvollen Holzdeckelbände wenig fleckig und bis auf die fehlenden Metallteile der Schließspangen sehr schön erhalten. - Geschenkexemplar des Autors, die Vorsätze jeweils mit Eintrag "Dono dedit Auctor P.
